Moving To The Heart of The Test Valley
This picturesque town is one of the smallest in the UK and famous for its trout fishing. Strategically vital as a crossing point on the main route between the medieval cathedral cities of Winchester (8.3 miles) and Salisbury (15 miles), its name is thought to come from the fact that it provided a bridge constructed of trunks (stocks).
Stockbridge Business Removals
This attractive market town supports a plethora of independent businesses, among them are gift shops, boutiques, galleries, a pharmacy, a greengrocer, a delicatessen, a wine shop and a small supermarket. So, if you’re looking to relocate your business here, but still want a rural lifestyle, Stockbridge is perfect. The A34 and A303 provide access to the national road network and train services into London can be accessed at Grately 7.2 miles or Winchester 9.6 miles.
You’ll find a wonderful range of eateries in this town: pubs, restaurants and tea rooms to suit all budgets. There are a number of specialist coffee shops, an Indian and a number of gastropubs including the Boot Inn, a traditional 18th Century country pub. On the outskirts of Stockbridge, The Mayfly provides the perfect riverside seating area, The Peat Spade Inn provides beautiful food in a setting to match or, for a more luxurious experience head to the Clos Du Marquis.
Stockbridge is home to one of the most exclusive fishing clubs in the world: Houghton Fishing Club. It’s the dream of every fly fisherman to be a member but, famously private, it has a restricted, elected membership of only 25. Founded in 1822, it gives fishing rights to over 13 miles of prime trout breeding and fishing waters. If adrenaline fuelled activities are more your thing, the proximity of Salisbury Plain, provides a great setting for The Tank Driving Company and just down the road, you can join the team at The Spitfire Shoot.
After that you can relax and enjoy a tour and tasting at Danebury Vinyard, take part in a Whisky and Gin tasking at The Little Whisky Shop or partake in locally brewed coffee and homemade fare at Coffee Lab, Thyme & Tides, Prego Deli or Turner and Thom.
For your children
The town itself a secondary and primary school, the latter of which also offers pre-school, slightly further afield there’s Sparsholt Agricultural College and Peter Symonds Sixth Form in Winchester. Private options include Farleigh, St Swithuns, Winchester College, Princes Mead and Godolphins.
